Virat Kohli tends to make news with his mere being or as one say, with his mere sight. Either with the cricket bat through which he creates excellence (something we have gotten used to over these years) or if not, then by simple antics or actions as seen on practically any cricket ground. With the 2026 edition of the IPL already on, one in which he’s already struck 2 gritty half centuries, Kohli did something recently that was not remotely about a half century or great batting and yet, ending up being an almost viral sensation.

Cool and breezy Virat

Royal Challengers Bengaluru star Virat Kohli delighted fans in Guwahati with a light-hearted moment ahead of their IPL 2026 clash against Rajasthan Royals.

Respecting the traditions

The former India captain was seen performing a few steps of Bihu, Assam’s traditional folk dance, during the team’s warm-up session at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Friday, April 10. His spontaneous moves drew loud cheers from the crowd, adding to the festive atmosphere at the venue.

What a gesture  Kohli’s gesture quickly became a fan-favourite moment, showcasing his connection with local culture and supporters across the country.

However, the on-field result did not go in RCB’s favour. The Bengaluru side suffered a six-wicket defeat to Rajasthan Royals, marking their first loss of the IPL 2026 season.

Despite the setback, Kohli’s cheerful interaction with fans remained one of the standout moments of the evening in Guwahati.

RCB will now look to bounce back quickly in their upcoming fixtures, with the team aiming to regain momentum as the tournament progresses. Meanwhile, moments like Kohli’s Bihu dance continue to highlight the vibrant cultural connect that the IPL brings to different parts of India.
