West Indies beat Zimbabwe by 107 runs in the Super 8 match. West Indies put up a batting masterclass at Wankhede as they scored the second highest total ever in a T20 World Cup after batting first as they put up 254/6 at the end of the first innings. It was a stunning performance with the bat. West Indies lost the wicket of Shai Hope and Brandon King early but Shimron Hetmyer took the attack to the bowlers and smashed a stunning half century of just 19 balls. Rovman Powell who started a bit slowly and has not had the runs coming into this match smashed a 29 ball half century. Rovman Powell scored his half century in quick time as he put up a stunning partnership with Shimron Hetmyer to rescue West Indies from 54/2 to 176/3. Hetmyer fell for 85 off just 34 balls as he missed out on a century. Hetmyer smashed 7 fours seven sixes in his knock.

Powell scored 4 fours and four sixes enroute to his 59 while West Indies got the desire finish with Rutherford scoring an unbeaten 31 runs of just 13 balls. Shepherd smashed 21 and Holder smashed 13 as West Indies posted a massive total of 254/6. Ngarava and Muzarabani picked up two wickets each but it was a night to forget for the rest of the bowlers. It was an above par total West Indies were firmly on the driver seat at the end of the first innings.

Zimbabwe started decently scoring 20 runs in the first few overs but in the process lost the openers cheaply. Marumani was dismissed by Forde while the inform Brian Bennett fell for just 5 as Akeal Hosein picked up his wicket. It was an uphill task for the Zimbabwe side from there on. West Indies bowlers were too good as Zimbabwe lost four wickets for 75 runs in nine overs. They collapsed to 109/9 as Motie picked up four wickets and Akeal scalped three wickets.

Zimbabwe were bowled out for 147 as West Indies won the game by 107 runs and made a terrific start to their Super 8 campaign. Shimron Hetmyer was the player of the match for his knock of 85. West Indies will face South Africa in the next game and this win has boosted their NRR and they are in a good position.
