The Lucknow Super Giants skipper Rishabh Pant admitted during the toss that they have let down their fans and especially their owner this season. They have won just two games in the season and their batting has been a huge let down this season. With the kind of superstars they have in the side, it is quite unbelievable that they are seated at the bottom of the table. The LSG owner had praised Rishabh Pant after he was picked at a record-breaking price in the auction and stated that he could win 5-6 titles for the franchise. They surely haven’t been on track this season and will be hoping to get back on track as quickly as possible.

“It has been a tough season for us, no running away from that. Everyone knows how passionate he is about the game and his team, hopefully we can do it for the owner and our fans,” said Rishabh Pant during the toss. It is beyond doubt that their performance has been below par this season and their fans have been unhappy as well. The management and the fans both expect better from this side as on paper, they are a well-rounded side and nothing can justify the results they have had in this season.

Batting woes haunt LSG despite strong bowling unit, as Pant seeks redemption against Mumbai Indians

Today, they are taking on the Mumbai Indians and this could be a redemption match for either of the sides considering their present form. The form of the Lucknow Super Giants have been predominantly surrounding their batting. Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram are two stalwarts for the franchise and the kind of starts they provide were exhilarating in the previous season. In the middle order, they had the might of Nicholas Pooran and his form is a crucial factor. There’s not much that bowlers can do when he is in form but he looks vastly out of touch this season. Rishabh Pant had one breakout innings in the last season against RCB and he had one against SRH this season in a low-scoring encounter Other than these two knocks, he has been a disappointment for the side as he hasn’t been able to deliver the match-winning knocks he usually does.

LSG have arguably the best bowling attack this season and their bowling performances are reflective about that. The way Rishabh Pant orchestrates throughout the innings with his bowlers has been a big positive. Mohammed Shami and Prince Yadav have established their dominance in the power play and the control they have over their lengths is remarkable. Mohsin Khan and Mayank Yadav are two young prospects who have come back from injury and made their impact for the side. Another positive would be the talent they found in Mukul Choudhury as he could be a great asset for the side in the lower order.

The visitors will be hoping that they can get a move on in this season and Rishabh Pant will be desperate to prove the critics wrong. However, the result will be massively dependent on their batting unit as their bowlers have already been up to the mark in their campaign.
