The 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is all set to enter its most entertaining stage - the Super 8. The Super 8 is basically the second phase of the T20 World Cup after a preliminary group stage round where five teams are drawn into four groups of four teams each. Top two teams from all the four groups will qualify for the Super 8 and will be then drawn into two groups of four teams each.
Let us dive deep into the details about the Super 8 format.
Format of Super 8 in T20 World Cup
This is where things get spicier at the T20 World Cup. The eight qualified teams will play against each other in a round-robin format and the top two teams from both the groups will play in the semi-finals. Eight teams were pre-seeded into two groups on the basis of their recent T20I results and performances.
India, West Indies, Australia, and South Africa were preseeded in Group 1 out of which three teams have already qualified except for Australia. Just in case, Australia fail to qualify, their spot will be given to the team that qualifies in their position from Group B, in this case, Zimbabwe will most likely qualify.
England, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka will constitute Group 2 of the Super 8. While England, New Zealand and Sri Lanka have already booked their seats, Pakistan are yet to do so and their chances are hanging by a thread. If Pakistan do not qualify, USA will be next in line to join Group 2.
