Chennai Super Kings have announced Karnataka all-rounder Macneil Noronha as the replacement for Ramakrishna Ghosh for the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2026. Chennai Super Kings are currently in contention for the playoffs and are on a remarkable run having won their previous three matches. Ramakrishna Ghosh played his debut game against Mumbai Indians and was injured in the same game. Noronha who has been in stunning form in the domestic circuit for Karnataka gets a chance for the Men in Yellow and he will be part of the squad for the rest of the season.
Who is Macneil Noronha?
Macneil Noronha is an all-rounder who is currently representing the Karnataka side in the domestic circuit. He was born on September 23, 2001, in Dubai. However, his family had their roots in Mangaluru, Karnataka. Noronha played plenty of cricket in Dubai and later relocated to India and represented Karnataka in the U19 and U23 competitions.

Record Breaking achievements which brought him to Spotlight
Noronha enjoyed a fine season for the Mangaluru Dragons in their title-winning 2025 campaign at the Maharaja Trophy which is the premier domestic T20 competition in Karnataka. He smashed 253 runs from 13 games at a strike-rate of 148.82. This also included a season tally of 19 sixes. Noronha also bowled offspin and took 10 wickets at an economy of 7.44. This included a best of 2 for 25 which he achieved in the final against Hubli Tigers. He was called up to the Karnataka squad for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and also played three games for Karnataka.
His best performance came in the 2024-25 Col C.K. Nayudu Trophy, where he finished the tournament as its highest run-scorer with 1,037 runs across eight matches which brought him under the spotlight and later helped him represent Karnataka. He has played 3 T20 matches for Karnataka and scored 58 runs. Macneil attended franchise trials for DC, KKR, MI, and CSK. With the injury to Ghosh, Chennai Super Kings have made the choice to rope him in as replacement.
