The Delhi Capitals gave an opportunity to the young 21-year-old Madhav Tiwari in the game against the Punjab Kings. His impact was incredible in the game as he won the Player of the Match award for picking 2 wickets and scoring a quickfire knock of 18 runs off 8 balls. They were going through a rough patch in the last couple of games and they were looking to get a move ahead in the tournament. Despite being tested by the aggressive Arya, he maintained his nerve, eventually using a sharp short delivery to induce a mistimed slice that safely landed in the hands of deep cover. The youngster did a great job straightaway with the wicket of the dangerous Priyansh Arya.

Returning to the side for his first appearance of the season as part of five major changes, Tiwari showed impressive composure. The youngster did a fabulous job with the bat in the back end of the innings and scored some quickfire runs to relieve the pressure of Ashutosh Sharma. Things weren’t all that easy for the Delhi Capitals as they have struggled with their middle–order in the past and the inclusion of Madhav Tiwari has done them a world of good.

Madhav Tiwari Emerges as Delhi Capitals’ New X-Factor

Madhav Tiwari is an upcoming talent who has quickly transitioned from a promising domestic prospect to an IPL sensation. He is a tall pacer and his natural instinct is to hit the deck and extract as much bounce as possible no matter the pitch conditions. He is known for his raw pace and ability to swing the ball both ways. He gained attention from the IPL franchises with a string of match-winning performances for Madhya Pradesh in the domestic circuit. He has risen through the ranks and he deserved a spot in the starting squad with the kind of skillset he has. He is known for his "X-factor" ability to bowl at different stages of the innings and he can also provide runs in the lower order.

Beyond his bowling, Tiwari is recognized for his clean ball-striking. As a lower-order batter, he provides the Capitals with much needed batting depth, capable of clearing the ropes with ease. His composure was particularly evident when he was hit for a boundary by Priyansh Arya but responded immediately with a wicket-taking delivery. He is a fine talent for the Delhi Capitals and even if they don’t make it to the playoffs, they will be happy that they have unearthed a gem.
