The Sunrisers Hyderabad have found a young exciting spinner in Shivang Kumar and he has featured for them in 10 matches this season. He has been a fine talent that they have scouted right from the grassroot level and he was a part of the decision of the management to have a complete turnover in their bowling unit. He was handed his first match of the season against the Kolkata Knight Riders but he went wicketless Initially SRH were struggling with their bowlers with the likes of Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat being hit for plenty of runs across the park. The orange army failed in winning a couple of their earlier matches and they understood that they had to make a change before it's too late.
Surprisingly, SRH decided to make a couple of changes in their bowling attack and they introduced a couple of exciting young talents. Shivang Kumar was a part of the side from the early stages and they backed their spinner throughout the season. He bowled a couple of fine spells in the tournament and it proved to be worthy of cementing his spot in the side. He is probably a name that SRH fans wouldn't have heard much of until the season began. Here is everything you need to know about the young talent Shivang Kumar.

From domestic cricket heroics to becoming SRH’s trusted young spinner
Shivang Kumar is a left-arm wrist-spinner from Madhya Pradesh and he made his name by performing well in the domestic matches. He hasn't played many games in the domestic circuit but he caught the eye of the scouts with his limited number of performances. Shivang Kumar left a lasting impression in the domestic matches with a personal best of 5/45 against Karnataka in Vijay Hazare Trophy and 3/25 against Bihar in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. His ability to bowl variations and adapt to different match conditions has been a key reason for SRH to have an eye for him. In the modern approach to cricket, spinners have struggled to survive in the shortest formats of the game but he has been a fine young exception.
Sunrisers Hyderabad signed him for the 2026 TATA IPL season at INR 30 Lakh. He was signed not just as a bowler but he had a good reputation of scoring runs with the bat as well. Shivang Kumar has a List A fifty - 67 off 69 balls against Jharkhand in the 2025/26 season. He has an immense potential to be the next X factor of the side with his clinical ability with the ball and handy contributions with the bat. SRH trusted to go with the young spinner and he has picked up 8 wickets from 10 matches at an economy rate of 9.50. He could be released from the squad ahead of the 2027 season but he will be on the radar for a couple of teams hunting for all-rounders among the domestic talents.
