Subhadeep Ghosh has been appointed as India’s new fielding coach and he has replaced T Dilip ahead of India’s two-Test series against Sri Lanka. Dilip returned to the side for his second spell during India’s five-match series Tour of England in 2025, and the BCCI ended up handing him a one-year contract. However, it wasn’t renewed once the deal expired. The former fielding coach, Dilip’s first tenure with the men’s team came from 2021 until the end of the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
While his tenure is now over, Ghosh brings with him ample experience for the role. He has earlier served as the Indian women’s team fielding coach for over two years. Not only this, but he also has over two decades of coaching experience across domestic cricket as well as the Indian Premier League (IPL). His experience makes him a highly-reputed specialist in his field.

Subhadeep Ghosh was born on November 13, 1968 in Digboi, Assam. He has played cricket for Assam and Railways in domestic cricket. Ghosh played a total of 17 First-Class and 17 List A matches for the two teams between 1994 and 2004. Though he couldn’t represent India internationally, Ghosh continued to work on his skills and later moved to coaching. His initial stint came up with Assam's senior men’s team, before moving to the Indian Premier League to serve as the fielding coach for Delhi Capitals.
In addition, he served as the fielding coach of the women’s team for two years. Moreover, he was a member of the support staff during two important events including the 2022 Women’s ODI World Cup in New Zealand and the 2023 Women’s T20 World Cup in South Africa. Ghosh’s first assignment with the Men in Blue will come during the forthcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, set to kick off on August 15 in Galle.
