India were without fast bowler Harshit Rana and spinner Varun Chakravarthy in the 4th T20I against England in Bristol. The five-game series between India and Harry Brook’s English side came down to the fourth game, where the visiting captain announced two changes in the playing XI. Shreyas Iyer, India’s newly appointed T20I skipper, who is yet to win a game at the helm of the side, won the toss and opted to bat first.

Speaking to broadcaster Ravi Shastri during the toss, Iyer revealed a couple of changes in the playing XI. He stated that the Men in Blue would be without Rana and Chakravarthy due to injuries. India’s medical team later confirmed that both players sustained hamstring injuries during the third T20I at Trent Bridge. They have also been ruled out of the fifth T20I.

They will be replaced by Prasidh Krishna and Washington Sundar. Notably, both the players are playing for the first time since the Ireland series. Apart from them, the playing squad remains the same despite reports of Sanju Samson making a return in Thursday’s game circulating widely on the internet.

On the other hand, the hosts, leading the series 2-0, introduced one change in their squad. Spin-bowling all-rounder Rehan Ahmed was playing instead of Liam Dawson.

Saw the fearlessness which we've been carrying for the first two games: Shreyas Iyer

Indian captain Iyer, who is yet to experience the sweet of victory as a skipper, reflected on the approach the side would take in a must-win game. Reflecting on the losses in the last two games, he said, “We saw the fearlessness which we've been carrying for the first two games. It's just that we are not able to execute the plans as much as possible, but today, it's a fresh day, a fresh start, and the boys are in pretty high spirits.”
