Cameron Green skipped bowling vs GT due to Cricket Australia’s workload restrictions amid back injury concerns, prioritising his recovery during IPL 2026.
Cameron Green did not bowl against the Gujarat Titans (GT) on April 17, 2026, because he was under a strict bowling restriction from Cricket Australia (CA) while recovering from a lower back injury. CA advised Green to abstain from bowling for a short period to manage a minor back complaint and gradually rebuild his workload. At the start of the tournament (March 30), CA mandated a short "no-bowling" period to let a minor lower-back injury settle.
Once that 12-day window passed, he was cleared to bowl limited overs (usually 1 or 2) to gradually test his back.He did bowl against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 9 and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 14, but only delivered 2 overs in each game. In the previous matches (vs. LSG and CSK), he bowled 2 overs each, but struggled for rhythm, conceding 28 and 30 runs respectively. Given the flat pitch in Ahmedabad and his heavy workload as a batter today, the team likely chose not to risk him.

KKR’s winless streak continues
Kolkata Knight Riders' nightmare start to IPL 2026 hit a new low today, April 17, with a 5-wicket loss to the Gujarat Titans (GT). Despite a valiant 79 from Cameron Green, the three-time champions remain at the bottom of the points table with zero wins from six matches. For the first time in their 19-year history, KKR has failed to win any of their first five (now six) matches of a season. Their only point so far came from a washed-out game against Punjab Kings.
After a disastrous start (32/3), Cameron Green smashed 79 off 55 balls to lift KKR to 180.GT captain Shubman Gill responded with a pivotal 86, anchoring the chase with composure.Impact player Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia sealed the win with 2 balls to spare.
Questions are being raised about Ajinkya Rahane’s captaincy, with many missing former title-winning skipper Shreyas Iyer.KKR has the worst bowling unit in its history this year, taking fewer than 4 wickets per match on average
