Women’s Premier League 2025 saw records break and viewership numbers increase. The start of the year 2025 saw the best players in Women’s cricket fight it out for the Title. As we approach towards the end of the year let us look back at how the season panned out. With the next edition of WPL coming up next year in the second week of January this article also brushes up all the best moments of the last season.

Mumbai Indians claimed the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 title after beating Delhi Capitals by eight runs in the final at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. These two sides were arguably the best and most deserving finalists. Meg Lanning led Delhi Capitals Women lost their third finals as Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians won the title. MI finished second in the WPL points table, beat Gujarat Giants in the eliminator and Delhi Capitals in the summit clash to lift its second WPL title in three years.

Amelia Kerr wins Purple Cap

Kiwi all-rounder Amelia Kerr ended the season as the Purple Cap holder with 18 wickets, narrowly edging ahead of her teammate in Hayley Matthews thanks to a better economy rate. Amelia Kerr’s best bowling performance came against UP Warriorz during the league stage, where she picked up a fifer which was also the only fifer from any bowler this season while conceding 38 runs in four overs. Moreover, she also contributed with important scalps in the playoffs for her side. She also picked up the wickets of Jess Jonassen and Jemimah Rodrigues in the final.

Nat Sciver Brunt wins Orange Cap and MVP award

Nat Sciver-Brunt was without a doubt Mumbai Indians standout performer this season, finishing as the Orange cap winner and Most Valuable Player. The England all-rounder finished the season with 523 runs in 2025, the first instance of a batter scoring more than 500 runs in a WPL season.

Ashleigh Gardner from Gujarat Giants won the award for most sixes as she smashed 18 sixes. The highest strike rate of the season was from Chinelle Henry (UP Warriorz) while Annabel Sutherland won the best catch award playing for Delhi Capitals against Mumbai Indians. Shabnim Ismail bowled the 131 dot balls in the edition which was the most by any bowler. This season had all the drama and closely fought games and the next season of WPL which starts in a couple of weeks is only expected to get better and better.
