The Rajasthan Royals were off to a terrible start in the powerplay as they lost some key early wickets. Their consistent performers at the top, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi were dismissed early on in the innings. Praful Hinge produced a dream debut in the opening over of the innings as he dismissed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel and Lhuan Pretorius. Sakib Hussain got the better off Yashasvi Jaiswal in the 2nd over of the innings as well.
The X users applauded the efforts of Donnovan Ferreira and Ravindra Jadeja for putting up a fighting partnership of 118 runs for the 6th wicket. Donovan walked out to bat, when the score was 9/5 and now when he was dismissed the score stands at 127/6. A very gritty half-century indeed from the Proteas batter.
A century partnership between Donovan Ferreira and Ravindra Jadeja, although the required rate has crossed 16 now. RR need 97 in 36 balls. Can they get it? 🤔#IPL2026 #SRHvsRR pic.twitter.com/d2Cb3wn4T4

Ferreira-Jadeja stand offers resistance after top-order failure as Royals’ batting depth comes under scrutiny
The Rajasthan Royals wouldn’t have been under pressure with the target to chase as Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal had given them consistent starts. Dhruv Jurel at number 3 has been yet another successful move by the Royals and the top order has been carrying their batting unit. But this time out, Praful Hinge rewrote the script for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. He dismissed Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Dhruv Jurel and Lhuan Pretorius in the same over. In the second over, Sakib Hussain got rid of Yashavi Jaiswal and in the very next over, the Royals skipper had to walk back as well.
Then Donovan Ferreira and Ravindra Jadeja took matters into their own hands and they knew that they had to hold the ground. A terrible batting collapse had struck the Royals and they needed a way out to at least protect their net run rate. The duo anchored the innings quite well as they rotated the strike comfortably and smashed the bad balls into the fence. Donovan Ferreira had gotten to a fighting score of 69 off 44 balls, including 7 fours and 3 sixes, striking at 156. The duo put on the partnership for 118 runs and they were successful in reducing the margin by which they lost.
The Rajasthan Royals are now truly out of the game with the dismissals of Ravindra Jadeja and Donovan Ferreira. They would consider this as just a bad day as nothing went right for them with the bat but their lack of batting depth is visibly exposed. They will be confident that they can bounce back in the next game against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
