India’s bowlers made a mockery of Sri Lankan batting again on day three of the first Test match in Galle. After getting bowled out for 462 in their first innings, India reacted quickly by removing the top-order in the very first session. Mohammed Siraj began the proceedings by dismissing Nishan Fernando followed by Manav Suthar’s impressive bowling as he accounted for Dinesh Chandimal with his very first delivery. Suthar did not stop there as he picked up another wicket and was 2-28 after 18 deliveries. Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with vital scalps while Shubman Gill made a stunning one-handed catch to remove Kamindu Mendis for 14. In the end, Sri Lanka could manage 178/5 at the end of 47.5 overs.

Just when things looked stable for Sri Lanka in the form of Dhananjay Silva, Jadeja struck in to dismiss him. KL Rahul took Silva 's wicket which was a low catch, that led to the TV umpire to check if it was fair or not. Upon checking on the TV the catch was fair and the Sri Lankan batsman was dismissed for just 21 runs. The batsman was trying to build a partnership with Sonal Dinusha after continuous wickets for the team. India’s disciplined bowling has already created a stir on the X platform. Some users were also quick in appreciating Gill’s brilliant one-handed catch at cover. The visitors’ spin attack has also been highly applauded as it continues to test the Sri Lankan batters in Galle.

India bowled out for 462 after Padikkal’s magnificent 167; Sri Lanka lose five wickets before lunch

Team India were bowled out for 462 in the first innings of the Galle Test in their batting innings on Day 3 after the rain disturbed the previous day’s play. They began Day 3 at 460/9 with only Kuldeep Yadav and Prasidh Krishna at the crease. The innings lasted just an over after the final wicket was taken. Even with this rapid finish, India had already put together a significant score, with efforts from Devdutt Padikkal excellent score of 167 runs. The elegant left-handed batsman hit 15 fours and one six in his first Test century and led India’s innings in difficult times.

KL Rahul made a great contribution of 82 after returning from retiring due to cramps, and Dhruv Jurel helped with a calm 51. Rishabh Pant scored 39 runs and Manav Suthar was not out on 21 runs.

Sri Lanka’s spin attack finally made an impact after India’s great batting innings. Prabath Jayasuriya ended with bowling figures of 4/109 and the debutant Keshara Nawuntha took 3 wickets for 175 runs and claimed all the 7 wickets in the Indian innings that fell on Day 2. However, India’s 462 put them in a good position to start with and their bowlers made the most of it quickly. As the second session began after the lunch break, the hosts had scored 178/5 in 47.5 overs. The Sri Lankan batters have been trailing by 284 runs as they have already lost half of their wickets to India’s disciplined spin attack.
