He expressed his gratitude towards his family and close ones, spoke about the plan that led to Brian Bennett's wicket, and shared his thoughts on adapting between red-ball and white-ball cricket.
When asked about his emotions after making his India debut, the 27-year-old expressed gratitude to everyone who had supported him throughout his journey. "I'm really grateful to have got the opportunity to play this game. I'm also really grateful to my family and my close ones, who have always supported me. So I'm really grateful for this," he said.
Speaking about the plan that led to his maiden T20I wicket against Brian Bennett, the Vidarbha pacer revealed that he and Shreyas Iyer had discussed using slower deliveries before his spell. "The wicket was really good to bat on. Me and Shreyas bhai discussed our plans before the spell and we stuck to them. We felt the slower ball would be a very effective option on this wicket, so we backed it, and it worked for us."
When asked about switching between red-ball and white-ball cricket, he stated that he always keeps himself prepared for both formats. "Last month I was playing in the India A tour of Sri Lanka. I played both the one-day and Test series there. I always keep my plans ready for both white-ball and red-ball cricket."
The right-arm seamer also opened up on his favorite format, revealing that he enjoys both red-ball and white-ball cricket. "No, I enjoy both. I just want to play the game," Thakur stated.
Yash Thakur finished with figures of 2/30 in his four overs as India beat Zimbabwe by 90 runs in the second T20I at Harare. It has been an impressive start to his India career, and the 27-year-old will now look to build on the performance and cement his place in the team going forward.
