“Young Players Should Learn from KL Rahul”: Virender Sehwag’s Big Praise for KL After Ranji Hundreds

Virender Sehwag, the legendary Indian opening batsman, has praised KL Rahul, saying, “You look at KL Rahul; he is not in the T20 World Cup team, so he could have gone somewhere and spent his holidays, but he is playing the Ranji Trophy and also scoring hundreds. Young players should learn from KL Rahul.”

KL Rahul was not selected for the T20 World Cup 2026 squad for India, so according to Virender Sehwag, he could have spent this time on holiday. However, instead of taking a break, he is playing in the Ranji Trophy for Karnataka. This shows the dedication of the 33-year-old.

Notably, KL Rahul played his last T20I match in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2022 at Adelaide on 10 November 2022. Since then, they haven't gotten a chance to play the T20Is for India. However, he is a prominent member of India’s ODI and Test squads.

Currently, the T20 World Cup 2026 is going on in India and Sri Lanka. Suryakumar Yadav is leading the Indian team in this World Cup. Notably, India is the defending champion of the T20 World Cup. Since 2022, KL Rahul has missed the next two World Cups in a row.

Recently, he smashed a century against Mumbai while playing for Karnataka in the 2026 Ranji Trophy to help his team win the match by 4 wickets. After getting out on 28 runs in the first inning, he smashed 130 runs off 182 balls in the second inning.
