Former cricketer Yuvraj Singh teased Rishabh Pant as the wicketkeeper-batter shared a post following India’s 165-run win over Sri Lanka in the first Test. The Indian side went up 1-0 over their rivals with a staggering crucial win. The game saw Devdutt Padikkal record his maiden Test century, whereas spinner Manav Suthar picked a 10-wicket haul, with four wickets in the first innings and six in the second. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant could manage to put up 39 runs in the first innings, followed by 66 in the second. However, former cricketer Singh didn’t leave the chance to remind Pant that he couldn’t complete his fifty and hundred.

Singh commented on Pant’s post, “What a player ! missed his fifty then his 100 or putter ?” However, the 28-year-old replied to the legendary all-rounder and said that he is taking baby steps and building his confidence. Not only this, but Pant also said that he is trying to get better with the numbers since it is something he has never played for. “Paaji taking baby steps building confidence for the big one and trying to get better with numbers cause never played for it,” Pant replied.

Rishabh Pant Becomes first Indian batter to hit 100 Test Sixes

While Rishabh Pant couldn’t complete his hundred, he achieved another milestone. Pant became the first Indian batter to hit 100 Test sixes. He is only the fourth to hit 100 sixes in Tests and is currently tied at the third spot alongside Adam Gilchrist, who was the first to reach the milestone. Apart from them, the two other batters in the list are Ben Stokes with 138 sixes and Brendon McCullum with 107 maximums. The Indian batter is the fastest to reach the milestone in terms of number of matches, innings and balls faced.

He used 31 Tests less than Stokes, 41 innings and 1660 balls fewer than Adam Gilchrist. Moreover, he is also the quickest in terms of days from debut, though 14 days fewer than the Australian. The Indian batter took 51 matches, 89 innings, and 4918 balls to record the feat. Also, it’s been 2919 days since his debut.
