Manchester United's new head coach Erik ten Hag has recently talked about the Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo in an interview. The Dutch manager stood firm on his decision regarding the transfer of the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.

The 52-year-old Dutch international has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo is not travelling with Manchester United for their pre-season match up as the striker cited personal issues. However, the manager has cleared his stance on the legendary Portuguese footballer's transfer after the latter expressed his concern on leaving the club.

He told media, "No, we are planning with Cristiano Ronaldo this season so, that's it and I'm looking forward to work with him."

A reporter then asked Erik, how is he planning to make Cristiano happy so that he stays at the club for another season after being relegated to Europa League. "I don't know. He hasn't told me this. I have read but what I say, Cristiano is not for sale, Cristiano is in our plans and we want to get success together."

Former Ajax manager has also talked about the Red Devils' captain Harry Maguire and his position in the squad for the forthcoming season. He said, "Harry Maguire is the captain. He is an established captain and he's achieved a lot of success."

Erik had a mixed comment on Frenkie de Jong as he said, "I never talk of players who are under contract with other clubs. I'm not gonna answer about Frenkie."

"We're still looking for players in the midfield and in offense," he added.

The summer transfer window will close at 03:30 am IST on September 1, 2022.
