BGMI Lite cross-play will allow players of the upcoming lighter version to play together with users of the regular BGMI game. KRAFTON India has officially confirmed the feature while announcing more details about the new game. This means players who move to BGMI Lite will still be able to squad up with friends who continue playing the main BGMI version. The company has also confirmed support for existing accounts, items and progress.
The announcement comes as BGMI Lite pre-registration is now live for Android users in India through Google Play. The game is being introduced with the message, “Nothing Less, Just Lighter.”
How Will BGMI Lite Cross-Play Work?
KRAFTON India says players from BGMI and BGMI Lite can play together. This means all members of a squad will not need to use the same version.
For example, one player can use BGMI Lite while their friends continue using the regular game. They can still team up and play together.
This could be useful for players who have phones with less storage but do not want to leave their existing squads.
Existing BGMI Account Will Work on BGMI Lite
Players will also not need to create a completely new account or complete an account transfer.
Existing users can simply log in using their BGMI account. KRAFTON India says their items and progress will also come along.
This means players who have already spent time collecting items or making progress in BGMI will not have to start everything again.
BGMI Lite Download Size
Another major difference is the smaller initial download. KRAFTON India has confirmed an initial download size of around 1GB.
The company says the new version will still offer the core Battlegrounds experience while making it easier for more players to enter the game.
Pre-Registration and Release Details
Pre-registration is currently open for Android users through Google Play. Players who register will also have a chance to receive special pre-registration rewards. Details about these rewards will be announced later.
KRAFTON India has confirmed that the game is scheduled to launch later in 2026, but an exact release date is not available yet.
Cross-play, existing account support and the smaller initial download are some of the biggest features confirmed so far. More information about the game is expected closer to its official launch.
