Liam Delap, the Chelsea striker, has been ruled out of action until December after he suffered an injury to his hamstring prior to the international break last month against Fulham. After being replaced early in the first half of Chelsea’s 2-0 win over Fulham at Craven Cottage, the immediate future of Liam Delap was in doubt, and now, the club manager Enzo Maresca revealed that he will not be available to them for 10 to 12 weeks.

Notably, Liam Delap joined Chelsea from Ipswich Town for £30 million in June after the latter were relegated to the Championship following a tough season in the Premier League. Upon his arrival at Chelsea, the Englishman has been a part of all the three games in the Premier League in the 2025-26 season, but he is yet to score or provide an assist in the top flight.

Chelsea recalled Marc Guiu from Sunderland after injury to Liam Delap

With the injury to Liam Delap happening just before the completion of the summer transfer window, Chelsea had to recall striker Marc Guiu, who was sent out on a loan spell to fellow Premier League club Sunderland. This decision was also taken at the time due to the uncertainty surrounding Nicolas Jackson’s move to Bayern Munich, which ultimately happened on the deadline day for a deal reportedly worth £70.5 million.

Enzo Maresca also has the option of Joao Pedro leading the line after he joined Chelsea from Brighton during the summer transfer window on an eight-year contract reportedly worth £60 million. The 45-year-old was quoted as saying on the matter, as per BBC Sport, “For us, the only number nine is [Marc] Guiu and Joao [Pedro] can play there, and against Fulham we used Ty [George].”

Chelsea are set to play against Brentford at the GTech Community Stadium on Saturday, September 13, in their next Premier League game of the season following the conclusion of the international break.
