Columbia has announced their squad for the FIFA 2026 World Cup, and it will be hoping to have a decent campaign in North America. Nestor Lorenzo will feel quite confident with his squad, as he has kept the core that reached the final of the Copa America a couple of years ago. The South American side missed out on the previous edition of the World Cup, and they will be looking to make amends for it. Luis Diaz and James Rodriguez will be the star players of the side, on the radar of most teams, as they are complete match-winners.

The Colombian side has had a very mixed campaign as of now in recent matches, as in the last 5 matches, they have 2 wins, 2 losses and a draw to go along with it. Their two wins came against Austria and New Zealand; meanwhile, their two losses came against top teams such as Croatia and France. Their international form wouldn’t exactly be something that gives them confidence, but they do have a lot of resources and potential to work with. They have been drawn into Group K along with DR Congo, Portugal and Uzbekistan. Portugal would be their biggest challenge in the group, and if they can put on a fine display, they could finish at number 2.

The Colombian side would have been disappointed in missing out on the World Cup in Qatar, but their performance post-World Cup has been special. Their campaign in the Copa America was arguably one of their best as they eliminated Brazil as well. Their challenge in the group stage wouldn’t be very difficult, considering Portugal is the only real threat. But their fans will know that with such depth in the squad and some phenomenal attacking options up front, they could do so much better than that. Columbia could probably see themselves going till the Round of 16 at least, and if they are an in-form side, they could even go up to the Semi-Finals.
