The 2026 FIFA World Cup is just around the corner in less than a week and the excitement is building up with every passing day. Most of the teams have already announced their teams and the friendlies have been more competitive than ever. Many of the top teams seem to be facing quite some aberrations in the matches and the underdogs have shown the world the kind of impact they can cause.
No matter the reputation that any team has in the international stage, qualifying to the knockouts is a herculean task for every team out there. We have seen many upsets in the FIFA World Cup history like Germany getting knocked out in the 2018 World Cup group stages. In this World Cup as well, the chances of upsets cannot be eliminated as some of the groups are really competitive. Here are all the groups in the 2026 FIFA World Cup from the toughest to the easiest:

1)Group I
The most competitive group of all, labelled as the “Group of Death” will be Group I with the likes of France, Norway, Senegal and Iraq. The talent that France possesses is endless and they will be the favourites to finish at the top of the group. Norway will be reliant on Erling Haaland, the prodigy forward and Senegal is also a strong side that qualified comfortably for the World Cup. Iraq would be having a tough time in facing such strong teams in the group.

2)Group D
This group is a set of teams with no star studded sides but the quality of players and football played by these sides will be somewhat similar. USA, Paraguay, Turkiye and Australia are the teams that will be facing off against each other in Group D. The USA could have the slight advantage of playing at home but all the other teams will be battling it out in unfamiliar conditions.
3)Group F
This group will be one of the most balanced groups in the tournament with the likes of Netherlands, Japan, Sweden and Tunisia. Netherlands have been even declared as one of the favourites to win the World Cup with the immense potential the squad has. Japan are the dark horses that will be hoping to ride on their intense preparation prior to the tournament. Sweden and Tunisia are also decent sides that could make qualification difficult from this group.

4)Group K
Group K consists of two highly rated teams by the fans and the experts, Portugal and Columbia. This could be one of the most anticipated clashes of the group stages as none of the other clashes could give the viewers that kind of entertainment. Uzbekistan and DR Congo could be in for a tough battle in the group and they will be looking to cause an upset in a highly competent group.
5)Group L
Group L will be another one of the highly rated groups with two heavyweight teams with a lot of history in the World Cup such as England and Croatia. Ghana is also a side that can play well on a given day and they have what it takes to finish in the top 2 in the group. Panama could potentially finish at the last place in the group and they could even finish with no points at all.
6)Group J
Group J will attract plenty of attention from the viewers considering the presence of the defending champions, Argentina in the group. Apart from Argentina, there are no sides that dominate world football at this point of time with the likes of Austria, Algeria and Jordan. The battle for the second spot in this group will perhaps be the most competitive of them all.
7)Group A
Group A consists of the co-hosts Mexico and it also consists of some other fine teams such as South Korea, South Africa and Czechia. Mexico will be having a considerable advantage in the tournament and other than them, South Korea could be the team that could go through to the next stage. South Africa and Czechia could go head to head in an intense battle along with Mexico who will be looking to impress their home fans.
8)Group C
The headlines regarding Group C will be based on the performance of Brazil as they are the favourites to qualify from the group. On the other hand, Morocco and Scotland also have decent squads and the form has been fine as well. This battle could be a fierce one and Haiti seems to be the side that is caught in the middle of the storm.
9)Group
Belgium will be gearing up for the last edition of the World Cup played by their golden generation led by Kevin de Bruyne. Egypt, Iran and New Zealand will be eyeing that spot in the top 2 and the results could be heavily based on how these teams take on each other. Egypt or Iran seem like the most obvious contenders for that spot at the top of the table.
10)Group H
Group H consists of two dominant sides in World football that is Spain and Uruguay. It seems quite obvious that these two will conquer the top 2 spots in the group without breaking a sweat. Saudi Arabia and Cape Verde will be arguably one of the most difficult groups to qualify from and they have an almost impossible task in their hands.
11)Group E
Group E is one of those groups with Germany being the most obvious contender who will top the group. The second spot could be the one that will face a lot of competition from Ecuador and Ivory Coast. Curacao has made a historic breakthrough into the FIFA World Cup but finishing in the top could be highly ambitious for the side.
12)Group B
Canada, Switzerland, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Qatar will go head-to-head in Group and Canada will have the home advantage with them. This group will probably attract the lesser amount of viewers with not much to look out for. Switzerland has a good chance of finishing at the top of the table and the second spot could be a face off between Canada and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
