The Blockbuster fixture of the Premier League opening weekend, Arsenal vs Manchester United  finished with a scrappy 1-0 victory to the Gunners. Despite some huge chances created by the Red Devils throughout the match, Mikel Arteta’s men stood their ground in the entire game and held their nerves from conceding.

Arsenal’s new superstar Viktor Gyokeres made his official Premier League debut for Arsenal this weekend alongside the new signing Martin Zubimendi and Noni Madueke who came off the bench in the second-half. Arsenal Legend Ian Wright found a piece of himself in the debut performance of Gyokeres and conveyed a motivational message to continue keeping faith in himself and keep grinding. Wright stated to Gyokeres, “And like I sent that message about Viktor, you’re mirroring me, so all you’ve got to do now is continue to have the faith in yourself that got you through the hard times.”

Gyokeres failed to register a single shot in his debut for Arsenal: Reports

Gyokeres showed some glimpses of his terrific physicality and movement on the ball. However overall throughout the entire game he had a poor outing at Old Trafford. The Swedish international could not live up to the expectations of the fans in his first match with the gunners. Gyokeres failed to register a single shot on target and lost possession many times. However, this is just the beginning stages of the Premier League and Gyokeres will be keen on proving his critics wrong in the upcoming matchdays.

Wright made it clear to Gyokeres that he will find the beginning a bit difficult considering he is now playing in arguably the highest level of football. He stated that Gyokeres will be doubting himself some days as all of a sudden he has got all his team-mates with the highest quality and it will take time to adapt to it. But eventually playing among the best will develop his overall gameplay and turn him into a goal-scoring beast for Arsenal who are aiming for the title this season.
