
England mid-fielder Jude Bellingham is telling he England fans to call in sick after a dramatic 3-2 win over Mexico in Round of 16 at the Azteca. The game started a bit late around 2am back home in England and the fans had to stay up late at night to watch a classic. Bellingham scored twice in the match as England won the game 3-2 against Mexico.
It was a tough challenge as Mexico had lost just two of their previous 89 matches at the Azteca. England captain Harry Kane also scored a penalty and England were down to 10 men for over 40 minutes after Jarell Quansah’s red card. Despite the odds, England managed to pull a classic win.
After the match when Jude Bellingham was about to send message for the England fans he replied with, “Have another shot, text your bosses and tell them you’re not coming in – simple as that.” He later added: “Kids stay off school, parents don’t go to work, enjoy your day, have the day off if you can... these nights don’t come often.”
The match started at around 2am UK time and as per reports hundreds of pubs and bars were packed with fans for the clash, with the government having extended opening hours until 5am on Monday. Celebrations erupted at the final whistle and the entire country was filled with joy after this massive win.

Coming into this game, England were up against a team that had lost only two out of their 89 games at Azteca. Mexico had a huge advantage in terms of the home atmosphere and a capacity crowd of 80,824 marked their attendance for this historic clash. The game was played at a high-altitude venue and England players had to make the adjustments. Mexico had not conceded a goal so far in this tournament so England had to fight hard.
Jude Bellingham stole the show as he scored a brace within a matter of minutes to get England to a 2-0 lead. Mexico bounced back immediately to score a goal in the 41st minute to make it 2-1 at the halfway mark. England had to play with 10 men for more than 30 minutes after Jarell Quansah’s red card.
Harry Kane scored a penalty to take England to 3-1 but Jimenez converted on 69 minutes to set up a nerve-shredding finish that included 11 minutes of added time, but England hung on and clinched the match 3-2 to pick up their best ever win away from home. This was only Mexico's third home defeat in 90 matches, and England did it playing with 10 men for 36 minutes. England will face Norway in the Quarter Finals of the 2026 Fifa World Cup.
