Alexander Isak, who has been in news amid the ongoing transfer window, has been left out of the squad of Newcastle United as the Swedish international remains adamant on joining the defending Premier League champions Liverpool. If reports are to be believed, Alexander Isak had a breakdown in relations with Newcastle United after the Magpies did not keep the promise that they made with the 25-year-old regarding his interests.

Isak, who was recently included in the Premier League Team of the Year 2024-25 by the Professional Footballer Association, chose not to attend the award ceremony in regard to his future in the league. Acknowledging his inclusion in the Premier League Team of the Year, Isak shared a cryptic Instagram story. "I'm proud to be recognized by my fellow professionals with a place in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season for 2024/25. First and foremost I want to thank my teammates and everyone at Newcastle United who has supported me along the way. I'm not going at the ceremony tonight. With everything going on, it didn't feel right to be there," he stated.

"I've kept quiet for a long time while others have spoken. That silence has allowed people to push their own version of events, even though they know it doesn't reflect what was really said and agreed behind closed doors. The reality is that promises were made and the club has known my position for a long time. To now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading," he continued. Isak finally concluded writing, "When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue. That's where things are for me right now - and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself."

Newcastle United ready to welcome Alexander Isak whenever he is ready to rejoin

In reply to this, Newcastle United released a statement citing their part of the story. They made it clear in their statement that Isak remains to be under contract at the club and revealed that there has been no commitment made by any club official in interest of Alexander Isak’s departure from the club this summer. Newcastle United stated, “We want to keep our best players, but we also understand players have their own wishes and we listen to their views. As explained to Alexander Isak and his representatives, we must always take into consideration the best interests of Newcastle United, the team and supporters in all decisions.”

Newcastle United considers Alexander Isak as a part of their family and will be welcomed back whole-heartedly whenever he is ready to rejoin his team-mates. Notably, the Magpies have already rejected a massive bid of £110m from Liverpool as they are keen on Alexander Isak continuing at their club.

Amidst this, it will be interesting to see if the Magpies accept the bid and let Isak join The Reds or make an agreement with him to stay at the club. The Newcastle United are scheduled to take on Liverpool in their first home match of the season in the upcoming match-day at the St. James Park.
