Real Madrid have bolstered their offensive unit by signing Spanish attacking midfielder Carlos Espí from Levante after exercising his release clause that amounts to €25 million, with the player committing to a deal until 2031. The signing means that Espí is now the fifth signing of Los Blancos for this summer, following the arrival of Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konaté, Denzel Dumfries and Bernardo Silva. Real Madrid were quick in strengthening their defence and midfield unit post last season, and now have signed a young striker who has caught eyes in the LaLiga.

This signing will also come as an advantage in filling the void left by Gonzalo García in case he moves to the Premier League side Fulham for a deal amounting to €70 million. By acquiring Espí, who is the replacement for the departing academy forward, Real Madrid not only rejuvenated their offensive options but also gained financially from the transfer deal. The signing also provides Real Madrid with another centre-forward along with Kylian Mbappé and Endrick.

Espí comes to Madrid from a quick climb up the ranks at Levante within the past three seasons. Espí was instrumental in helping Levante win the promotion battle in the 2024-25 season, scoring six goals for the team in their championship-winning campaign in the Spanish second division and helping them gain promotion back to LaLiga, according to Transfermarkt. He would go on to make even more progress during the following season by being named the top scorer at Levante in 2025-26 with 11 goals in LaLiga despite coming off the bench for many of those appearances. His form led him to be named the LaLiga Under-23 Player of the Year and LaLiga Player of the Month in March 2026.

During his three seasons with Levante, Espí scored 20 goals in 66 appearances across all competitions. These impressive stats quickly boosted his market value and caught the eye of several top clubs. At 1.94 meters tall, this right-footed striker brings a unique style compared to Madrid's current forwards. He boasts a winning rate of over 56% in aerial duels, making him a formidable target for crosses and set-pieces. Known for his quick one-touch finishing in the box, he also uses his strength effectively to fend off defenders while involving his teammates in the play.
