Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking forward to re-opeN talks with Manchester City to sign Dutch defender Nathan Ake. With this, they want to bring in more defensive quality into their team. Under Thomas Frank's management, the club is looking forward to having talks during the January transfer period. At 30, the Dutch defender could prove to be a valuable addition for his current club. However, his situation at Manchester City has become uncertain, having fallen out of favour with Pep Guardiola, he has featured for just 67 minutes across three appearances this season. With Josko Gvardiol back from injury and Rayan Aït-Nouri arriving in the summer, there is no guarantee of Ake’s role as either centre-back or left-back.
Because of this, Ake has emerged as a potential target once again for Tottenham Hotspur, as per the report from CaughtOffside, with the London heavyweights having shown interest in him earlier in the summer. According to the report, City are open to offloading him as part of their squad reshuffle, provided they receive a minimum of £15 million. For Tottenham, adding a player with Ake’s winning pedigree and experience at the highest level could be a crucial step in building a team capable of challenging for top honours.

Also, they finished 17th place in the Premier League, just one place ahead of the relegation zone.
With the entry of the 30-year-old from City, the club will get versatility, being able to slot in both centrally and out wide in defense, adding to their reserves. His defensive presence would bring much-needed solidity, while his composure and quality on the ball could introduce a fresh dimension to Tottenham’s build-up play. The London-based club need reliable cover for Micky van de Ven, given his recurring injury issues. At left-back, however, Spurs face less concern, with Djed Spence providing strong competition for Destiny Udogie.
