Manuel Akanji, 30-year-old Swiss international footballer, plays as a right-back for Manchester City. Akanji was signed on the deadline day of the summer transfer window of 2022 and has been a vital part of many major trophy winning campaigns for Manchester City. Akanji missed quite a few matches for City in the 2024-25 season due to injury concerns, but will be looking forward to starting the season on a high.

According to recent reports, the North London club Tottenham Hotspurs have expressed their interest to sign the Swiss centre-back before the end of the summer transfer window. Akanji is considered as one of the three names shortlisted for the position by Tottenham Hotspurs and have approached Man City regarding their stance for the player. Tottenham mean business before the deadline day as they are also close on securing Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

The Italian giants - AC Milan are also involved in the race to sign the defender and are ready to pay £15m to Manchester City to sign the 30-year-old. Personal terms are yet to be agreed upon with the player but Milan are keen on making Akanji a part of the project to rebuild their lineup after missing out on qualifying for European competitions in the previous season.

Both AC Milan and Tottenham are keen on getting over the line for Manuel Akanji before the deadline day ends. It will be interesting to see if Manchester City would sell the defender nearing the end of the transfer window. Both the new managers Massimiliano Allegri and Thomas Frank are keen on improving all the departments in the team and are filling the gaps in every position.
