The ongoing season of IPL 2021 is happening at a very interesting time, just a few days before the start of the T20 World Cup. Although the squads for all sides have been announced, there is still a provision of making changes till October 10. The window has presented an opportunity for players to impress the national selectors once again in their bid to make their way into the 15-member squad.

As it turns out, things have become quite interesting in that aspect especially in the case of India. Some of the players like Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya and Rahul Chahar are a few of the names who haven't been in the best of forms in UAE so far, raising concerns over their selection in Men in Blue squad for the mega event.

On the contrary, there are some players who are constantly knocking on the doors of selectors with their impressive performances in IPL 2021. BCCI now find themselves in a very tricky position with respect to whom to drop and whom to pick and former England spinner Monty Panesar gave his opinion on the same.

Panesar believes Chahal and Harshal could be part of final Indian squad

The 39-year-old spoke about the selection dilemma in conversation with SportsTiger after RR vs MI clash on Tuesday. While he was delighted with Ishan Kishan's return to form in Sharjah, Panesar admitted that Suryakumar Yadav's form is a matter of concern for India. Notably, SKY was dismissed on 13 after playing a rash shot during an easy run-chase.

Talking about players who could be included in the Indian squad for the mega event, Panesar opined that Yuzvendra Chahal is one player who could make his way considering the success he has had with his leg-spin in UAE so far. However, he went on to name one player whom he thinks should definitely be a part of the Men in Blue - RCB pacer Harshal Patel.

I will be surprised if Harshal is not included: Panesar

"Harshal Patel has just been great. And he is one guy who could make that final T20 squad. We talk about backing players and Virat Kohli knows that he (Harshal) is doing well in especially these conditions (UAE) where the world cup will be played," Panesar said in DafaNews presents SportsTiger Mid-Wicket LIVE show. The 39-year-old added that he will be surprised if Harshal fails to make the squad on October 10.

Notably, the RCB pacer is currently the purple-cap holder in IPL 2021 with 26 wickets in 12 games. He has been the key player for Virat Kohli's side in their excellent campaign so far and it will be interesting if King Kohli backs him to play for the national side as well.
