The IPL 2022 Mega Auction is underway and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have made calculated bids so far. The Tamil Nadu-based franchise has gone after their ex-players and somehow retained their core from the 2021 edition. They managed to get Ambati Rayudu, Robin Uthappa, KM Asif, Deepak Chahar, and Dwayne Bravo back in the yellow army.

They spent a massive 14 Crores to bring back Deepak Chahar and from the actions of the management, it was evident that they had received a word from their captain about the same. Also, a statement from CSK CEO Kashi Vishwanath had confirmed that it will be Dhoni who will be deciding on the names to go after at the mega auction. Now, a statement from CSK's most expensive player at auction, Deepak Chahar, has also confirmed that MS Dhoni is trying his level best to form a pool of players that can take the game forward, even if he has to play for free.

After being bought back by CSK for a whopping Deepak Chahar, the fast bowler cum all-rounder has made a statement about MS Dhoni's commitment towards Chennai Super Kings. "If it was in hands of MS Dhoni, he wouldn’t have taken even 1 Rupee from CSK," has said Deepak Chahar.

MS Dhoni had also taken a pay cut

For those who don't know, Mahendra Sigh Dhoni took a pay cut to accommodate Ravindra Jadeja and two other players on CSK's retention list. Dhoni chose to be Chennai's second retention and allowed Jadeja to go ahead of him for 14 Crores. The CSK captain will play for the franchise for a fee of 12 Crores per year for the next three editions.

CSK retained Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni, Moeen Ali, and Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. And, so far, they have bought eight players at the IPL 2922 Mega Auction and have spent 32.25 Crores. They still have 15.75 CR to spend and buy 13 more players to fill the 25 slots in total.
