We are all set for the much-anticipated Indian Premier League 2021 Players’ Auction. It is that time of the year when franchises do rigorous strategizing off-the-field to get a perfect team-combination on-the-field. After some big names were released ahead of the mini-auctions, it is expected to be a really busy day for a few teams as they prepare for the 14th edition of IPL, set to be played in India from April onwards.

IPL 2021: Venue, Time, Broadcast Details

IPL 2021 Auctions will take place in Chennai on February 18th, Thursday. Star Sports Network will broadcast the live coverage of the auctions. The online streaming will also be available on Disney+ Hotstar. The auctions are scheduled to begin at IST 3 PM onwards, although the pre-auction show will begin one hour earlier.

292 players to go under the hammer

In the mini-auctions, 292 cricketers will be up for grabs to fill the 61 slots available among all the franchises. The Players’ list includes 164 Indian cricketers, 125 overseas players and 3 players from associate nations. All eyes will be set on foreign superstars like Glenn Maxwell, Jhye Richardson, Dawid Malan, Chris Morris, Kyle Jamieson, Shakib Al Hasan, Jason Roy and Alex Hales. While the experienced Harbhajan Singh will also feature in the auctions, the franchises will also be interested in a few domestic talents like Shivam Dube, Shahrukh Khan, Mohammed Azharuddeen, Lukman Meriwala and Arjun Tendulkar.

Purse available and slots left for all the franchises

Out of the eight franchises in IPL, Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore will be the busiest teams in the auctions. They have the highest purse and have the most available slots. Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals also have a few vacancies to fill. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad have retained most of their players and won’t be too active in the auctions. Both these teams also have the least purse available with them.
