After winning the toss, England fielded first and restricted Australia with their skillful bowling as the Aussies were reduced to a score of 51/5 in the 12th over. Only Aaron Finch fought single-handedly with the bat for Australia and he was partially supported by players like Ashton Agar, Cummins and Starc at the other end which helped Australia post 125 runs on board. Chris Jordan and Chris Woakes were star performers with the ball for England in 1st innings and during the 2nd innings, England chased down this total convincingly with 8 wickets in hand, with the help of Buttler's stunning knock of 71 runs from just 32 balls.
