The cricketing world was left in shock on March 4 when the news of Shane Warne's untimely death came out. While it was a difficult one to digest for everyone, people started to come in terms with it and began to pay tribute to the Legend, who certainly ruled between the 22 yards. With Australia up against Pakistan in 1st Test in Rawalpindi, it was always going to be a tough day for everyone on Saturday.
However, PCB and the organizers at Pindi Cricket Stadium came up with a heartwarming gesture for the legend. While the players came out on the field with black armbands, the team of journalists and presenters also paid tribute to former Aussie legend, who incidentally also had a brilliant career as a media professional post his retirement.
Shane Warne - A legendary cricketer and commentator
Inside the press box at stadium, a banner of Shane Warne was placed which had 1969-2022 written on it, the years which belonged to one of world's best leg-spinners. There were flowers and petals below Warne's image which was indeed a heartwarming homage given by everyone inside the press box.
Some of the journalists shared images of the same on social media, revealing how they were remembering the legend. Notably, former Pakistan cricketer Waqar Younis, who was Warne's dear friend and his fierce competitor on the field, shared a few nice words for the late Aussie leg-spinner. A couple of other media professionals also shared their feelings which was followed by a minute of silence.
It was indeed a brilliant gesture by everyone involved behind this, to pay homage to Shane Warne inside the press box since the Aussie loved his job with the mic as much as he enjoyed his time while bowling on the cricket field.
