MS Dhoni to mentor Team India in 2021 T20 World Cup

BCCI has announced the final 15-member squad along with 3 additional reserves for the upcoming T20 World Cup set to take place in UAE. There were quite a few surprises with the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel getting a nod ahead of Washington Sundar and Yuzvendra Chahal. However, there was one more exciting announcement on Wednesday which stunned everyone.

BCCI confirmed that former Indian captain MS Dhoni, who announced his retirement on August 15, 2020, will mentor the team in UAE for the mega event. The presence of the 40-year-old in the dressing room of Men in Blue is music to ears for all the Indian cricket fans. As soon as BCCI posted the update on Twitter, the news went viral on social media in no time. 

MS will work closely with Ravi Shastri: Jay Shah

Reflecting on the appointment of Dhoni as mentor, BCCI secretary Jay Shah said, "I have one announcement to make. MS Dhoni will join Team India as a mentor for upcoming T20 World Cup. I am glad MS has accepted BCCI's request... MS will work closely with Ravi Shastri and other support staff to support Team India."

Notably, Jay Shah had spoken to the former Indian captain when they were in Dubai. The BCCI secretary had also revealed that he discussed about the same with his colleagues, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma and everyone agreed without any hesitation.
