2K, the publisher of WWE 2K and NBA 2K games, has reportedly secured the official licence to create the next FIFA video game. Notably, EA, who had an epic partnership with FIFA lasting for three decades, parted ways with them in 2022, following which 2K is set to join the football’s governing body to continue their video game series.

As per the post from MohPlay Inc on their official X account, 2K, who have come on board with FIFA for their next video game, will rival EA Sports FC. They reported that FIFA 2K25 is going to be launched later this year to mark the beginning of the partnership ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Notably, apart from WWE and NBA, 2K has also created games on professional tennis, while developing the simulations for the National Hockey League (NHL), National Football League (NFL), and the PGA Tour in recent times.

After parting ways with FIFA, EA rebranded their football games as “EA Sports FC,” and it led to the President of the football governing body said, “I can assure you that the only authentic, real game that has the FIFA name will be the best one available for gamers and football fans. The FIFA name is the only global, original title. FIFA 23, FIFA 24, FIFA 25 and FIFA 26, and so on – the constant is the FIFA name and it will remain forever and remain the best.”
