India are set to open their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 campaign against Ireland on Wednesday, June 5. The Men in Blue will be playing their season opener against Ireland in New York at 8 pm IST, equivalent to 10:30 am local time. India and Ireland share a fresh T20I rivalry of eight matches so far. The Indian cricket team under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya took down Ireland by a margin of seven wickets in the first T20I game of India’s tour of Ireland in June 2022. The match saw Ireland putting up a spirited fight, but the Men in Blue proved too strong for the hosts and went on to win a rain-affected game by a margin of seven wickets in Malahide on Sunday. Batting first, Ireland put up a total of 108 runs for four after the rain reduced the game to 12 overs.
India, with the help of decent knocks by Ishan Kishan, Deepak Hooda and the skipper himself, chased the target in just 9.2 overs.
