With the ICC international calendar in focus, we have the T20 World Cup this year in Australia. With the T20 World Cup in the spotlight, we have seen many names being taken for the final squad. Many players are being considered and have been given an opportunity to prove themselves ahead of this marquee event.

With India set to play 12–13 more T20Is ahead of the World Cup, don't be surprised if more names pop up for that final list of 15. With this being all said, let's have a look at some players who might have their final showdown in this World Cup for their country (India).

1. Dinesh Karthik

Dinesh Karthik made his debut in 2004-05 and continued to keep himself in contention for every major ICC event. In recent years, especially in T20s, he has developed himself to be a perfect lower-order batsman who finishes games on his own for his team. In the recently concluded IPL, Karthik played that finisher role for his franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and either rescued them from tricky situations or finished it big in the final overs. Dinesh Karthik's fabulous finishing skills were seen on the international stage on many occasions, with the Nidahas Trophy final against Bangladesh being the most memorable one.

With the Indian team looking for a finisher, Karthik definitely suits that role and most probably will be on that flight to Australia. With age not being on his side and many young players rising through the ranks, this might be his last opportunity to play for his country on the grand stage of an ICC event.

2. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

He was India’s mainstay in the bowling department. Bhuvneshwar has always performed for India in ICC events. But in recent years, the swing king has lost his place in the side due to ongoing injuries, especially a back injury. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the main man behind Sunrisers Hyderabad's success over the years, but there too he has slipped down the list and the likes of Natarajan and Umran Malik have taken his place.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar had a decent outing for SRH in this year's IPL where he picked up 12 wickets at an economy of 7.4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has done well so far in South Africa series and the ongoing Ireland series. Against South Africa he picked up 6 wickets in 5 games. With Bhuvi finding form at the right time, he might be in that list of 15, which for him might be his last dance for the Indian team as we have many young fast bowlers coming up to take his place who have excellent skills and pace.

3. Rohit Sharma

You might be surprised to see Rohit Sharma's name on this list. But with him being appointed as all-format captain of the Indian team, eventually down the line, he might choose to quit (retire) from one format to prolong his career, and we have seen that captaincy takes a lot out of you, especially mentally. With the next T20 World Cup lined up in 2024 and since Rohit Sharma will be 37 by then, it looks like this might be his last T20 World Cup. Another reason which can be foreseen for Rohit Sharma quitting the T20s will be the rise of young and talented players like Ruturaj Gaikwad and captaincy alternatives like KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya, who have shown success in leading and captaining teams.
