As many fans pointed out, the IPL was never meant to be the main platform for scouting talent. There are already enough domestic tournaments across all three formats that can help identify players from even the smallest regions. With plenty of new global leagues emerging, putting out the IPL overseas players weakens its position. It cannot strengthen its future from limiting participation from international players.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India created the Indian Premier League to generate revenue and expand cricket’s global reach. This model has been working year after year.
