Lucknow Super Giants have been handed a major blow ahead of their debut campaign, with their INR 7.50 crore signing Mark Wood ruled out of the IPL 2022 season due to an elbow injury. Although the franchise has overseas pacers like Jason Holder and Dushmantha Chameera in squad, the franchise will be quite keen to get another fast-bowler on board as replacement for Wood, as soon as possible.

According to reports, there are 3 pacers who are linked to the franchise and one of them could potentially join LSG in coming days. Here is the list of those players:

1. Sheldon Cottrell

The pacer from West Indies has played under KL Rahul for Punjab Kings and had a few impressive performances. Unfortunately, the Rahul Tewatia onslaught completely derailed his campaign and Sheldon Cottrell will be keen to get another opportunity to prove his mettle in IPL. He will also add variety to the pace attack of LSG, with his left-arm bowling.

2. Andrew Tye

The former RR fast-bowler is one of the most experienced players in the available pool right now and he could be an interesting inclusion in the side. Although he is not as quick as Mark Wood, Andrew Tye has been brilliant in Big Bash League, registering speeds of around 135-140 kmph in addition to his deceptive slower deliveries which could prove to be lethal in death overs.

3. Kane Richardson

The Aussie pacer is someone who is known for his line and length in T20 format. Kane Richardson could complement someone like Avesh Khan, who will be the other frontline pacer in the playing XI. The 31-year-old has a few IPL appearances to his name and he knows what it takes to compete in the league, which is something that could work in his favour in comparison to other youngsters.

Other possible options for LSG?

Apart from the above-mentioned list of three players, Lucknow Super Giants will also have some exciting alternatives available in form of fast-bowlers Scott Kuggeleijn, Saqib Mahmood, Blessing Mazurbani, Jayden Seales, Hayden Kerr, Reece Topley, Josh Little and Billy Stanlake.
