India ended their World Test Championship 2021-2023 cycle as runners-up after the Rohit Sharma-led side faced a disappointing loss against Australia by a massive 209 runs in the Final. The Indian squad ended up as runners-up for the second consecutive time after losing the first WTC Final to New Zealand in 2021. Pat Cummins' side took the driver’s seat from the first day of the ‘Ultimate Test’, and though there were moments when India tried to take control, the momentum shifted in the Aussies’ favour in no time.

1. Ajinkya Rahane

The 35-year-old Rahane is one of the best options who should be given a chance to lead the team. Ajinkya has played 83 Tests for India and was India’s highest run scorer in the WTC Final 2023.
