On day three of the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test at the Adelaide Oval, Australia defeated India by a comprehensive margin of 10-wickets, to level the five-match series 1-1 with three matches still to play. The Pat Cummins-led Australian cricket team dominated the visitors in the day-night pink ball Test match, winning it eighth time in a row at the Adelaide Oval since 2015.

Travis Head was the star performer for the hosts with his exceptional 140 runs off 141 balls with 17 fours and five maximums, which helped them take a match-defining first innings lead of 157 runs. Apart from his player of the match performance, the likes of Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins also picked up five-wicket hauls in first and second innings respectively.

In this article, SportsTiger looks at three reasons why India lost the second BGT Test match versus Australia at the Adelaide Oval.

The Indian batting lineup collapsed in both the innings, getting bowled out under 200 runs, during the Adelaide Oval with none of the top six batters going past the 40-run mark. Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was part of just his second Test match, emerged as the top scorer for India in both the innings at the No. 7 spot, scoring 42 runs twice, but it was far from enough for India’s cause.
