The recently-released film 83 has proven to be a mega success as the fans have got a chance to re-live the most magical sporting episodes of the country. Against all odds, Kapil Dev's side went to England to stun the entire world as they lifted the trophy at Lord's. The viewers, many of which who were not even born in 1983, have got to know so many new things about the team which achieved the remarkable feat.

However, not just the story, there are many exciting and unknown things about the movie itself. Here are 3 things which you might not know about 83 movie:

Harrdy Sandhu played the role of Madan Lal

Harrdy Sandhu has been in the news recently for his famous song Bijlee Bijlee which has gone viral on social media. However, not many know that the singer has also played cricket for India U-19 team which is why he also bagged a role as an actor in 83. In the film, he has played the role of Madan Lal, who had notably coached Sandhu at National Cricket Academy camp during his playing days.

"I am a singer by profession, cricketer by passion, and an actor by chance," Sandhu had described himself in a post on social media. Without a doubt, Madan Lal was an integral member of India's side which created history 38 years back and Sandhu has certainly done complete justice to the role of his mentor.

Sandeep Patil's son enacted his father

Everyone in their lives want to make their parents proud. But very rarely, someone gets an opportunity to do it by playing their character on the big screen! Well something very similar happened in the movie 83 when Chirag Patil enacted the role of his father Sandeep Patil.

Reflecting on the role, Chirag had stated on social media, "As a boy, I idolised him; Now, I aspire to be a man like him. How fortunate must I be to portray my superhero on screen? The man who took India to the finals. Presenting Mumbai ka Sandstorm, Sandeep Patil." As expected, the son has recreated the magic of his father's heroics with some perfection!

Balwinder Singh Sandhu coached entire crew

Considering the fact that all the actors of 83 needed some professional training as they were playing the roles of some legendary cricketers, movie director Kabir Khan put that responsibility on the shoulders of Balwinder Singh Sandhu. And the 65-year-old has done a phenomenal job which can be seen with the performances of the actors on the big screen.

“I treat all the actors like actual cricketers and follow the same techniques that I do at the National Cricket Academy, " Sandhu had said during the shooting of the movie. From training the cast at Dharamshala in a camp to being with them during the filming in UK, Sandhu is one of the key reasons behind the perfection of 83.

Reflecting on his role as an associate director in the movie, Sandhu said, "Kapdo me kitna mitti hona chahiye, yeh bhi maine decide kiya tha. Mujhe bohot creative satisfaction mila," (The extent of mud stains on the clothing was also decided by me. It gave me a lot of creative satisfaction)
