Sanju Samson and his T20 World Cup 2026 story will go down as one of the inspiring stories in the history of cricket. Sanju, who wasn't in the best of form ahead of the all-important tournament, went onto become the player of the tournament. Sanju, who just played 5 matches in the tournament, scored more runs than legend Virat Kohli. He amassed a total of 321 in 5 innings, having three all-important fifties to his name. 

Sanju, who wasn't India's first choice opener, came into the setup after South Africa's defeat in Super 8. The team management was quick to realise that left-and-left combination at the top isn't working for India and they will have to add a right hander at the top. As soon as Sanju got the opportunity, he was quick to grab it and started scoring runs like a bloke.

In the next game against the West Indies, Sanju Samson scored unbeaten 97, helping India enter the semi finals. Similarly, against England, he provided perfect start and scored selfless 89 runs to take India's total over 250 again. In the final game against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Sanju Samson smashed 89 runs to help India score highest-ever T20 World Cup final total, taking India to their third T20 World Cup win.
