Punjab Kings (PBKS) have qualified for playoffs only a couple of times in their 17 years in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In both instances, their batters stood tall and delivered extraordinary numbers to help their sides go ahead of the round-robin stage. This year, they have some quality batters who not only have the potential to take the team to the playoffs but also hand them the trophy. Days before the maiden IPL 2025 game, let’s know five batters who can scintillate the tournament for Punjab.
Here are the five best batters in PBKS IPL 2025 squad
5. Prabhsimran Singh
Prabhsimran Singh was one of two players retained by PBKS for 2025. The right-handed batter is known for his ferocious batting style and he will look to do wonders in the upcoming marquee event. Back in 2024, he amassed 334 runs in 14 matches at a formidable strike rate of 156.81.
4. Marcus Stoinis
Former Australia all-rounder Marcus Stoinis will return to PBKS after seven years. In the cash-rich league, he has proven several times how dangerous he can be against bowlers. In the last season, the Aussie hit 388 runs in 14 games at a superb strike rate of 147.53.
3. Josh Inglis
Australia wicket-keeper batter Josh Inglis looked in fine touch with his bat in the Champions Trophy 2025. Against England, he smashed an unbeaten 120 off 86 and helped the Aussies walk victorious by five wickets. Inglis hit the headlines in November 2023 after clobbering a 47-ball T20 International (T20I) ton against India in Visakhapatnam. Noting his batting capability, PBKS will want their Aussie stalwart to be merciless against opponents.
2. Glenn Maxwell
Glenn Maxwell, who was a crucial member of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) from 2021 to 2024, will don the PBKS jersey again after five years. Back in 2014, when Punjab concluded their competition as runners-up and produced their best IPL performance, Maxwell was their highest run-scorer with 552 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 187.75.
1. Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer will be leading PBKS and he will have to be ruthless against bowlers and set a precedent for his teammates to deliver the best for the team. Iyer will be landing in the T20 event after performing extraordinarily in the Champions Trophy 2025. The 30-year-old ended up as the second-highest run-getter in the ICC event, notching up 243 runs in five matches at an average of 48.60.
