
With the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League set to begin on March 22, cricket fans across the world will witness some world-class players take part in this tournament. The thrilling T20 format has produced some brilliant players both from the host country India as well as overseas. There are certain players however who could potentially miss the IPL season due to injury.

Josh Hazlewood
Up first, we have Josh Hazlewood. The Australian pacer was re-signed by the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the mega auction for INR 12.5 crore. Hazlewood who was part of Australia’s squad in the Border Gavaskar Trophy played only 2 matches before being ruled out due to injury. He also missed Australia’s tour of Sri Lanka and was also ruled out of the ongoing Champions Trophy.
Anrich Nortje
The South African speedster Anrich Nortje was bought by the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders for INR 6.5 crore. After being named in South Africa’s squad for the Champions Trophy initially, Nortje underwent scans whose results meant that he was ruled out of the Champions Trophy as well as the remaining season of the SA20 2025.
Gerald Coetzee
Another South African pacer on the list is Gerald Cotzee. He was signed by the Gujarat Titans for 2.4Cr in the mega auction. Coetzee was also expected to feature in the Champions Trophy as he was recovering from a hamstring injury which restricted him to only one appearance in the SA20. However when he got back to bowling in the nets, he complained of experiencing tightness in his groin which ruled him out of the ODI tri-series in Pakistan along with the Champions Trophy.
Mitchell Marsh
Up next we have Mitchell Marsh. The Australian all-rounder was bought for 3.4Cr by the Lucknow Super Giants in the mega-auction. He played 4 out of the 5 BGT test matches against India after being replaced by Beau Webster in the last one. He played one game in the Big Bash League after which he had to back out due to pain in his lower back. Following further assessment, he was ruled out of the Champions Trophy as well.
Jacob Bethell
The English all-rounder was bought by RCB for INR 2.6 Crore in the mega-auction. Bethell was part of the England squad who travelled to India for the ODI and T20 matches. In fact he played the first ODI scoring an impressive half-century as well. But unfortunately after that he was ruled out of the series due to a hamstring injury and subsequently missed the Champions Trophy as well.
