Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met several leading gamers of the nation including 8bitThug, Mortal, and MythPat. After the meeting, several developers claimed that Modi's plans would ‘revolutionise gaming’ in the nation. The creators who had the honour of meeting the Prime Minister have contributed to the growth of the industry by representing the country in some of the most notable tournaments and winning medals in them.

The attendees included Naman Mathur aka Mortal, Animesh Agarwal aka Thug, Payal Dhare aka Payal, Mithilesh Patankar aka MythPat, Ganesh Gangadhar aka SkRossi, and Anshu Bisht aka ‘GamerFleet’. Agarwal and Patankar took to Instagram and wrote, “We just had a thought-provoking conversation regarding the esports industry with the Prime Minister. His ideas are going to completely change the Indian gaming industry.”

Notably, there are approximately around 450 and 550 million gamers in India. According to the latest data, the gaming sector in India brought $3.1 billion in revenue in FY2023, which was 19% more than $2.6 billion in FY22.
