Former India cricketer turned commentator, Aakash Chopra took some trolls to the cleaners on X, after they launched an acrimonious attack on the former India opener for commending Vicky Kaushal-starrer 'Chhaava'. The historical-action movie has been well received by fans at the box office and recently, Chopra also emerged as one of the supporters of the blockbuster film. After watching the movie, Chopra also posted a message on X that irked some folks on the platform. He raised questions at India’s schooling system for ignoring the valour of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Chopra’s post attracted attention and some trollers looked to bring him down but didn’t get success as the 47-year-old gave it back to them with his confidence.
Taking to X, Aakash wrote, “Watched Chhaava today. Incredible tale of bravery, selflessness and the sense of duty. Genuine question—why were we not taught about Chattrapati Sambhaji Maharaj at all in school? Not even a mention anywhere!!! We did learn though how Akbar was a great and fair emperor, and even have a very prominent road called Aurangzeb Road in Delhi. Why and how did it happen??”
Reacting to his post, a user named Rahul Hans Chaudhary wrote, “Sir, did you ever read NCERT? Oh no, when you have age to read NCERT you were chasing your dreams to become cricketer. Now, still you didn't get time to read NCERT at this odd age.NCERT has glorified Maratha also, books are there in market but whatsapp messages focus on NCERT only.”
Replying to the remark, Aakash didn’t hold himself back and wrote, “Just for context—I topped my school in 12th standard. Scored 80% in history. Had humanities for graduation with history as a core subject. Thank you.”
Chopra to scintillate Champions Trophy 2025 with his voice
Chopra will be seen doing commentary for Star Sports and JioHotstar in Hindi in the Champions Trophy 2025, set to be played from February 19 to March 9, 2025. He will be joined by former India players Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, Mohammad Kaif, Ambati Rayudu, Robin Uthappa, Deep Dasgupta, and Piyush Chawla.
Ahead of India’s maiden Champions Trophy 2025 game, Chopra shared a video on his YouTube channel and remarked that India will be in advantageous position as they are accustomed with the conditions in Dubai. “Only we know about Dubai, the opposing team has no idea. This thing was about Pakistan as they are playing in home conditions. So whoever goes there, won't know the pitches that well. Similarly, everyone will have to come to Dubai," said Chopra.
