Former South African batter-wicketkeeper AB de Villiers has picked his ex-Royal Challengers Banglore teammate Virat Kohli to play at the number 4 position for the upcoming Asia Cup and ODI World Cup. ABD made this claim on his ‘360 Show’ on his YouTube channel and also discussed the teams for the Asia Cup.

Addressing the big debate around the Indian batting lineup, ABD named Kohli, the perfect player to take up the number 4 role. De Villiers called the former Indian captain the perfect player with his ability to play any kind of role in the middle order. But ABD also questioned whether Kohli would agree to bat at the position.
He said, “We’re still talking about who will be the No. 4 batter for India. I’ve heard some rumours about Virat possibly taking up that position. I would be a big supporter of that. I think Virat is perfect for No. 4. He can put the innings together, play any kind of role in that middle order. I don’t know if he would like to do that. We know he loves his No. 3 position; he’s scored all his runs there, but at the end of the day, if the team needs you to do something, play a certain role, you have got to put your hand up and got for it.”

Talking about Virat Kohli’s stats at the number 4 position, he has played 39 innings and scored 1767 runs at an average of 55.21 and a strike rate of 90.66. Kohli has also scored seven centuries at that position. However, he last batted at no. 4 over three years ago, in an ODI against Australia in Mumbai.
