In the high-stakes IPL 2025 Qualifier 1 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), RCB secured a convincing eight-wicket victory with 60 balls to spare. The first innings turned out to be a dream for RCB’s bowling unit as after electing to field first at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, RCB tore through PBKS’s batting lineup, bowling them out for just 101 runs in 14.1 overs. Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma starred with the ball, each taking three wickets and keeping the pressure firmly on Punjab.
The electric fielding and clinical bowling display left PBKS rattled and gave RCB a strong hold on the match. Chasing a very modest total, RCB got the job done easily although they lost two wickets. Phil Salt led the chase scoring an unbeaten half-century of 56 of 27 balls. Skipper Rajat Patidar joined in late to provide the finishing touches with 15*(8). The win seals RCB's spot in the final of the 2025 IPL season. PBKS, on the other hand, still have another chance to make the finals in the upcoming Qualifier 2 match against the winner of MI vs GT Eliminator game.
