Kolkata Knight Riders kept their playoff hopes alive after a thrilling one-run victory over Rajasthan Royals in match number 53 of IPL 2025 at Eden Gardens. After Riyan Parag’s captain’s knock, Shubham Dubey took the match to the last ball but failed to take his team down the line as RR fell short of just one-run from KKR’s total.
Batting first, KKR posted 206/4 in their 20 overs with Andre Russell remaining unbeaten on 57 runs off 25 balls, hitting four fours and six sixes. For RR, skipper Riyan Parag, Maheesh Theekshana, Yudhvir Singh and Jofra Archer scalped a wicket each.

Chasing the winning target, RR were in a tough situation as they were reduced to 71/5 after 7.5 overs. After that, stand-in skipper Riyan Parag took charge of the innings and smashed 95 runs off 45 balls, hitting six fours and eight sixes. The match went down to the last over with RR needing 19 runs off just four balls. After that, Shubham Dubey smashed two sixes and a four, but failed to grab more than one run on the last ball as KKR ended up winning a thriller in front of their home crowd. After this win, KKR now reached the sixth spot in the points table with five wins and five losses so far this season.
