On Tuesday, June 3, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) etched into history books as they claimed their maiden title, beating the likes of Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the moment was even special as RCB’s holy trinity reunited to lift the trophy together, including Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Chris Gayle.
Prior to this, Virat Kohli was overjoyed as he even shed some tears of joy as the franchise inched closer to the IPL title. However, the 36-year-old also could not contain his emotions and he rushed towards his wife, Anushka Sharma to share a brief moment amid all the celebrations.
Virat Kohli shares first post after RCB’s title triumph; post goes viral
Hours after RCB’s victory, the stalwart of the game, took to Instagram to share a post, which has thus far garnered 13.3 million likes and over 813K comments. The 36-year-old also shared several pictures with the post which included the team moment where they lifted the title. Moreover, he also shared a photo alongside Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma, all clad in RCB’s special champions jersey.
“This team made the dream possible , a season I’ll never ever forget. We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the ride over the last 2.5 months. This one is for the fans of rcb who never ever left our side in the worst of times. This one is for all the years of heartbreaks and disappointment. This is for every inch of effort left on the field playing for this team. As far as the ipl trophy is concerned- you’ve made me wait 18 years to be able to lift you and celebrate my friend, but it’s been absolutely worth the wait. ❤️ @royalchallengers.bengaluru”, Kohli captioned the post on Instagram.
After RCB's win, Virat Kohli in the post match interaction said, "This win is as much for the fans as it is for the team. It has been 18 long years, I have given this team my youth, my prime and my experience and I have tried to win this every season that I have come and I have given everything I have and to finally have this moment come, it is an unbelievable feeling. I never thought this day would come. I was overcome with emotions as soon as the last ball was bowled and this means so much to me, as I said I have given each and every ounce of energy to this team and to finally win an IPL is an amazing feeling."
